You can visit Canyon Lake year-round, that’s the nice part about Arizona. However, April to October is the busy season for Canyon Lake Boat Rentals. Keep in mind, SUMMER IS HOT. Types of Canyon Lake Boat Rentals
Let’s get into the different types of boat rentals on Canyon Lake. No matter what you choose, I know you’ll have a blast. Canyon Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in Arizona.
1: Pontoon/Speed Boat
Canyon Lake presents an exceptional opportunity to experience its scenic beauty firsthand through boat rentals, with pontoon and speedboat options catering to diverse preferences. Pontoon boats offer a spacious and stable platform, ideal for leisurely excursions, accommodating larger groups, and enjoying relaxed cruising on the water. These vessels often feature comfortable seating and ample deck space, perfect for socializing and taking in the picturesque surroundings. I combined Speed Boats and Pontoon Boats because many of the Pontoons you can rent have significant horsepower and still allow wakeboarding and tubing, like ours did.
Both pontoon and speedboat rentals allow visitors to access different perspectives of Canyon Lake’s stunning landscape and engage in activities that best suit their desired on-water experience.
where to rent your pontoon/ speed boat
SunTex Boat Club at the Canyon Lake Marina is the best to rent from. It’s easy to choose your boat online and wakeboard/tube if you want them. All you do is park at the Marina, walk up the doc and your friendly employee will load you up on your boat and get you off onto the lake.

2. Jetski Rentals
Want to amp up your Canyon Lake Boat Rentals? Forget just cruising – think zipping and splashing! Renting a jet ski (or personal watercraft, if you’re feeling official) is a fantastic way to inject some serious fun into your day on the water. Imagine carving through the waves, feeling the spray on your face, and exploring those cool coves at your own pace. It’s like having your own personal water rocket! Just a heads-up though, there are definitely rules to follow to keep everyone safe and happy out there, so be sure to listen up to the rental folks. But if you’re looking for a thrill and a unique way to experience Canyon Lake’s beauty, hopping on a jet ski is definitely worth checking out! BE CAREFUL PLEASE.
3. Canyon Lake Cruise
Speaking of kicking back and enjoying Canyon Lake’s beauty, you absolutely HAVE to check out the Dolly Steamboat cruise! I know this may not fit under Canyon Lake Boat Rentals, but it is a boat and you do have to get tickets, so I thought it was worth mentioning in this post. This isn’t just any boat ride; it’s a real paddle wheeler, adding a touch of old-school charm to the stunning desert landscape. Picture yourself relaxing on deck as the Dolly gently glides across the water, offering incredible views of those towering red rock cliffs and hidden canyons. They often have narrated tours too, so you can learn a bit about the lake’s history and the surrounding wildlife while you soak it all in. It’s a super unique and memorable way to experience Canyon Lake, whether you’re with family, friends, or just looking for a peaceful escape. Definitely a highlight if you’re visiting the area!
4. Paddleboard & Kayak Rentals at Canyon Lake
Again, this isn’t a “Canyon Lake Boat Rental” but it is a water-based rental you may be interested in! For a more personal and active way to explore Canyon Lake’s quieter corners, definitely look into paddleboard and kayak rentals! Imagine gently gliding across the calm water, getting up close and personal with the shoreline, and maybe even spotting some local birds or fish.
Paddleboarding offers a fun little core workout while you soak in the views, and kayaking is perfect for a tandem adventure or a solo exploration of hidden coves. It’s a fantastic way to slow down, connect with nature, and enjoy the peaceful side of the lake. Plus, it’s usually a pretty budget-friendly way to get out on the water. Plenty of places around Canyon Lake offer rentals, so grab a paddle and get ready for some serene on-the-water fun!

Beyond Canyon Lake Boat Rentals
Beyond the boat rentals and the iconic Dolly Steamboat, Canyon Lake offers even more ways to soak up the Arizona sunshine and stunning scenery. Hiking enthusiasts can explore trails that wind along the shoreline and offer panoramic vistas of the lake and surrounding desert. Keep an eye out for local wildlife! There are also designated picnic areas perfect for enjoying a meal with a view. If you’re looking for a more relaxed vibe, simply finding a scenic spot along the shore to sit and take in the tranquility can be incredibly rewarding. So, whether you’re craving adventure on foot or a peaceful moment by the water, Canyon Lake has something to offer everyone, even when you’re not out on a boat.
Another super fun idea- rent a sports car from Turo and drive around Canyon Lake. We did this for my husband’s birthday and it was a blast.
