this is just MY opinion. ive been many times, at many times of the day. it’s such a popular hike, and for good reason, but its so busy at the top. once i was at the top of devils bridge and there was a line of 50 people to walk on it & take photos. NO THANKS.

last time I convinced my dad & hubby to get up there before the sun came over the horizon & it was soooo worth it.

ive got a few other good tips for you including an alternative trail to dry creek & how to visit the underneath of the bridge!

being away makes me extraaaaaa mushy, but i love my little family so so so much. 😍

“cause im a real tough kid i can handle it” 👊

the mindset you need to make it out here. it’s tough working in rural alaska. being away from your family, sometimes without service, clean water, not the best living arrangements, not being able to get out & explore sometimes, not having all the resources you need to treat patients, etc.

i dealt with a pretty traumatic event last time i was up & im glad everyone survived but my mental health really plummeted from it especially in the last month as i knew I was coming back up. I’ve been ok up here this time but it isn’t easy. it does however, make me so grateful when i go home, it helps me grow & learn, and i get the chance to love some amazing people 🫶🏻

i may have shown some of the fun parts of my day, but don’t get me wrong this job is hard. limited resources to treat patients, limited access to clean water, unable to explore outside the village, etc…. but the thing that makes this all worth it is the people 🥺

both my coworkers (native & other travelers), and the patients. the patients are always so so kind and willing to teach me about their culture. so many of them say “ thank you so much for coming to our village “ at the end of my visits 🥹🥹🥹
