Summer (June-August) brings warmer days, ideal for escaping the desert heat, but also marks the monsoon season with afternoon thunderstorms. High Country Motor Lodge
I LOVE HIGH COUNTRY MOTOR LODGE. It’s the cutest hotel in Flagstaff. Things that make it great include their beautifully-renovated motel rooms AND available separate cottages, newly renovated (2025) pool area, SAUNA experience (the best!!), full bar and restaurant, community spaces, and COFFEE SHOP. Like they literally have it all, you could stay here al lweekend without leaving if you wanted to. This hotel is dog-friendly.

This is another amazing accomodation in Flagstaff. This is another epic radiation of a Route 66 Motel and they did SUCH A GOOD JOB. The rooms are stocked with retro coolers. a light-up disco ball, and the coolest colorful headboard and carpet. The common space is great too- the pool, yard games, hammocks, on-site restaurant and beautiful lobby & common space. This is another great dog-friendly hotel in Flagstaff.

Little America Flagstaff
I am going to categorize this one as a boutique hotel as well, even though it is larger than the others. They have multiple locations in different states, but are family friendly. Why does this matter? It makes everything feel more cozy and thoughtful. The grounds are beautiful and they sit on 200 acres of forest with walking trails. I love how immersed in the forest their pool was too. PLUS OMG, their restaurant Silver Pine was to die for. Lots of house made items! Keep in mind, this is NOT a dog-friendly hotel.

A lot of people who come to stay in Flagstaff want to be immersed in nature because of that. Let’s go over some of the best hotels in Flagstaff, or near Flagstaff, that are nature-focused.
Backland Glamping
To be transparent, I have NOT stayed at this Glamping Resort, yet. I’d love to. This is Backland Glamping, which is located about 30 minutes east of Flagstaff. It is also near Williams, AZ which is the “Gateway to the Grand Canyon.” They have individual glamping rooms with bathrooms, bedrooms, and a private patio. They also have a great community space with wifi and food and rental items for outdoors (kayaks, etc). Keep in mind, they DO NOT have wifi in the rooms, to encourage you to disconnect. This is a dog-friendly hotel.

Village Camp Flagstaff is located about 30 minutes east of Flagstaff as well. It’s one of the best hotels in Flagstaff if you’re looking for a unique experience close to nature with great amenities. They have an amazing community building with indoor and outdoor lounging, a bar and food, pool, and play places for kids. They have beautiful individual tiny homes, most with roof top patios with epic views of the mountains. Fun fact, you can actually own one of these cabins and make rental income from them when you don’t use it, if that is up your alley. Check them out!! This is a dog-friendly hotel.

If you like airbnbs, I suggest the “A-Frame Flagstaff.” This owner has 2 properties on the same piece of land, this A-Frame pictured and “Tiny Cabin Flagstaff.” They both have tons of charm and are surrounded by trees. I stayed in the Tiny Cabin one Christmas Eve and it was really cozy!

This is one of Flagstaff’s Iconic Landmarks, with huge “HOTEL MONTE VISTA” letters on top of the building for the whole city to see. It’s been around since 1927, what?!?! If you want some historic charm, highly recommend this stay. It’s in the center of everything fun downtown.
