Things To Do at Watson Lake in Prescott

Nestled among the stunning Granite Dells, Watson Lake is one of Prescott’s most breathtaking outdoor escapes. Its deep blue water and smooth boulder formations make it the perfect spot for kayaking, hiking, or simply soaking in the views. Whether you’re visiting for a peaceful morning paddle, a scenic hike along the lakeshore, or a golden-hour photo session, Watson Lake is a must-see for anyone exploring Arizona’s high country charm.

2. 🥾 Hike the Watson Lake Loop Trail
Visiting Watson Lake is a MUST on your list of things to do in Prescott, I promise! The beautiful granite dells with the surrounding mountains and the mirror-like water at sunset when everyone is done with water adventures: it’s so magical. The best spot (in my opinion) to watch sunset without a hike is to drive into the official park ($3 fee) and drive straight until you go up the hill where the pavillion is. Park there and walk wherever you want to watch sunset. PS- photos are better once the sun goes beneath the horizon.

3. 📸 Photography & Overlook Spots
Obviously, everywhere at the lake is gorgeous and SO SO UNIQUE. If you’re looking for a sunrise or sunset photo spot without a hike attached to it, I suggest driving to the Hilltop Pavillion (drive into Watson Lake Park and keep going straight until you go up the hill). There’s a small lot there and the views are amazing (photos above). You can also park near the boat launch in Watson Lake Park and go on part of the Watson Lake Loop Trail.
