Sedona in Winter: A Weekend Itinerary
Have you ever thought about visiting SEDONA IN WINTER? Sedona is a magical place at any time of the year, and winter is sure something special. Sedona does get cold, so you’ll need to prepare, but it is well worth it!
This weekend itinerary in Sedona is perfect for a girl’s or a couple’s getaway!
Sedona in Winter
I can’t wait to share this itinerary with you all. I took this trip in Early February, which was beautiful. Sedona’s “cold” season is from December to March. Temperatures range from the low 30s to highs in the 50s or 60s. Sometimes less than that. In addition to the weather being cooler, the crowds are fewer and the costs are lower! The winter is a romantic time in the red rocks.
This itinerary takes place over 2 days and either 1-2 nights. You could extend it, but if all the time you have is a weekend, that’s all you need!
We left early (like 430 am) from Phoenix to drive up to Sedona. Our goal was to start our first hike at sunrise. If you did this over a weekend, it would be leaving on Saturday morning. If you want to stay for 2 nights, drive up on Friday afternoon or evening.
Sunrise Hike to the Hangover Caves
The hangover caves are an awesome series of caves overlooking Schnebly Hill Road in Sedona. I saw these beautiful caves for years and never could find directions, which is why I love creating blog posts. To help you find these magical places! Let’s check out some of my favorite hikes to do in Sedona in winter.

Grab Coffee at Black Potion Sedona
Chilly after a hike in Sedona in winter? Grab some coffee. Even if you’re not a coffee fan (I used to not be), I highly recommend checking this place out. They have a gift shop with crystals, jewelry, sage, etc. They also have a full coffee menu with pastries. If you’re into it, you can even get a psychic reading in the building.
Second Hike: Cathedral Rock
One thing I love about Sedona is there are SO MANY HIKES to try out, and you can easily fit many hikes in just a day. After coffee, we headed over to Cathedral Rock. This is one of the BEST HIKES IN SEDONA: a classic for a reason. There are a couple things to note. One- it’s steep (so you need proper gripping shoes). Two, there is a Sedona shuttle which means you can’t park at the trailhead between Thursday and Sunday except before or after sunrise/sunset (when it’s not running). CLICK HERE to read more about the shuttle.

Lunch at Hideaway House
The Hideaway House in Sedona is an awesome spot for lunch. It’s tucked up against Oak Creek with epic views. They have outdoor (dog-friendly) and indoor seating. I’ve been here for lunch and for dinner. Their menu has lots of options, and I loved their drinks, too!
Hotel Check-In: Sky Rock Sedona
I’ve stayed at maybe 10 or more different locations around Sedona. Sky Rock Sedona is one of my favorites. It was recently renovated and is stunning. Totally vibey for a girl’s weekend in Sedona. They have a wall made of amethyst behind the front desk, an awesome lobby, moonrise ceremonies, meditation, full bar, and an amazing community deck overlooking Sedona. When it’s chilly in Sedona in winter, cozy up next to the fire on the balcony.
Breakfast in Sedona
Since we were staying at Sky Rock Sedona, we chose to eat breakfast there. Other yummy options include Sedonuts, Secret Garden Cafe, Indian Gardens, Coffee Pot Restuarant, & so many more!
Morning Hike: The “Subway” Cave
