A Note About Seward, Alaska
Much of Seward, Alaska closes in Winter. For many businesses, it costs more to stay open in winter (because of heating costs primarily) than to close, so they choose to close. Some restaurants do stay open, but not many. I will make note of places that close in winter, in case you plan to visit during winter.
Places to Eat in Seward
Want to go to Breweries in Seward? Seward Brewing Co is bomb. There is something so cool about drinks that are MADE locally. And, they almost ALWAYS have soft pretzels- my favorite, haha. The service was great. If you go during summer, make sure to go BEFORE they open for dinner. When we got there 2 minutes after open, there was a line down the street! They do close for the season shortly after Labor Day and open around Memorial Day.

This would be on my list for the coolest places to eat in Seward. Tidewater Taphouse is an American Restaurant that overlooks the Marina in Seward, which is beautiful. They have many local drinks on tap, hence the “taphouse” as well as unique cocktails, fish apps and entrees, and more. They also have this epic octopus built into the bar. In summer, they’re open Wed-Sat, and in winter they’re open M-Thurs.

If you can splurge, you should do it at Ray’s Waterfront. This is a very well-known Restaurant in Seward, that like the name suggests, is right on the water. They have great alcohol, salads, apps, seafood entrees, multiple desserts, etc. The meals are pricey, but worth it. They are open April-September for lunch and dinner throughout the week. This has got to be one of the best restaurants in Seward.
RAY’S WATERFRONT is closed for winter (oct-march)
Not sure where to eat in Seward, Alaska? The Resurrection Roadhouse is located on the same property as Seward Windsong Lodge- where we stayed. It was so nice to be able to relax and walk to dinner. Probably some of the best views around Seward, too. People get married here as well! The food menu is broad and always changing- it was a great meal!!
RESURRECTION ROADHOUSE is closed in winter, from mid-September to mid-May.
5. The Salmon Bake
This is definitely one of the best places to eat in Seward. They say it is the Home of ‘Cheap Beer and Lousy Food’. They have steak, seafood, pasta, homemade desserts, great wines, 5 Alaskan Microbrews & Root Beer on tap. It is also close to Seward Windsong Lodge. It looks so chill and so cozy.
THE SALMON BAKE is closed from Labor Day to Memorial Day.
If you want some authentic Texas BBQ while you’re in Alaska, this is the place for you! We didn’t eat here, but drove by it and I enjoyed the covered outdoor seating with heating, and location close to town.
FIREBRAND BBQ is closed for winter, September 15-May 10
7. Los Chanchitos/ Food Trucks
There are a number of food trucks in Seward, which were delicious. If you plan to shop around Downtown, it’s a great spot to get some lunch. We grabbed these stuffed quesadillas from Los Chanchitos and dang they were good. There was also a coffee/ donut stand and a few other options.
The Seward Food Trucks are closed in Winter.
Looking for breakfast in Seward? The Breeze Inn is a great place to eat in Seward. It is also a hotel, AND the dining is open all day, all year round. This is a great place to get breakfast. I’ll be honest, it’s hard to find a great breakfast spot in town besides small things your hotel might have or pastries at a coffee shop, so this spot is great.
The Breeze Inn IS OPEN ALL YEAR!
9. Harbor Street Creamery
If you’re down for a little sweet treat, this is the place for you. Located right across all the good shops and near the harbor. We grabbed a cone (loved their flavor choices) and walked down the Harbor at sunset- it was so romantic. 🙂 When I think of ice cream shops in Seward, this is what I think of!
HARBOR STREET CREAMERY is open all year.
Resurrect Art House is one of the best coffee shops in Seward. It is so cute, in an old church. They have coffee, pastries, and as the name says- art for sale. Super cozy, and open all year round! Loved this spot- a must visit and one of the places places to eat in Seward.
RESURRECT ART HOUSE is open all year!
11. Seward’s Cup
You must visit this Iconic Coffee Shop in Seward. It’s a coffee shop shaped like a coffee mug, haha. When we were there, we grabbed a breakfast sandwich from our hotel, headed here for coffee, and then drove over to Exit Glacier for a hike. It was a magical morning. Highly recommend.
SEWARD’S CUP is open all year round 🙂
Final Thoughts About The Best Places to Eat in Seward
There were so many cool places to eat in Seward, I wish I had time for them all. I will note, it is very limited in winter. Most visitors come in Summer, but just wanted to mention that. If I had to only choose a few of these, I would recommend the coffee shops, Ray’s Waterfront, Tidewater Taphouse, and Seward Brewing. So many good options. Happy traveling!
