Group Hike 2- EJ Peak/ Lone Mountain

Want to check out what we did for February 2024’s Group Hike? Check it out HERE.

For March of 2024, I chose to take a group to EJ Peak. This is a hike I commonly do on my own and I love it. The area is beautiful, the hike is short but still a good exercise, and there usually aren’t too many other people there. Perfect for a group hike!

A Note About Group Hikes

Please Note- Tonto National Forest has a rule that within designated wilderness areas, a group size of no more than 15 is allowed. This is to minimize the impact to the environment and provide solitutde. In non-wilderness areas, they PREFER no more than 15. Always the ideal is to LEAVE NO TRACE. I will follow these rules in my hiking groups in Phoenix.

Parking For Hiking Groups in Phoenix- EJ Peak

There is a large dirt lot for this hike with no parking fees, so I thought it would work well. Please note, on the weekend this is a common spot for horseback riding and mountain biking, so the parking lot fills up quickly when daylight starts!

I like this hike because it is NOT very time consuming. It only takes me an hour when I’m by myself. As a group, 90 minutes is reasonable. Our last group hike in Phoenix took almost 4 hours.

Destination: The Summit

Another reason I love this hike is that you actually get to summit a mountain. Loop hikes and other similar treks are great, but getting to stand at the tallest point in a mountain was great.

Everyone was so friendly too. Great conversations were had. I always love how people hike at different speeds, but no one leaves anyone behind. Love that. This is why I wanted to create hiking groups in Phoenix.

WELCOME TO MY PAGE!

I’m Danielle, a passionate outdoorsy girl who loves to share!

I’ve lived in Phoenix, Arizona since 2014 and went on my first real hike in March 2015. Being in the middle of the mountains is an unbelievable experience. I promised myself from now on, I won’t live more than 15 minutes from a trail. I promise you’ll benefit from more time outside.

By career, I am a Physician Assistant, trained in Primary Care, Emergency Medicine, Sports Medicine, and Wilderness Medicine. I hope to use my knowledge to help prepare others to be safe outdoors. This is my prescription to you to GET OUTSIDE.
