Jan 31, 2022 | Arizona, Phoenix, Shops & Restaurants

If you’re reading this post, I’m assuming you’re a plant lover like me. I usually write about travel & hiking, but I decided to make this post because it’s important to me to bring the OUTDOORS in, and these are the best places to go to do that. I will be reviewing my favorites, including details on pricing and plants of my own that I’ve gotten from these places. If you live in Phoenix (or are wanting to pick up a gift to bring home from your trip), these are the best plant shops for you.

TOP 10 PLANT SHOPS IN PHOENIX

1. The plant stand of arizona

The Plant Stand in Arizona is one of the most rapidly growing nurseries on social media and one of the (if not the) largest in physical size. They started from a small family company, which I love, and are now a nationwide supplier of houseplants to many large retailers (like Fry’s!).

They have multiple large greenhouses with large trees and shrubs, houseplants, and even pottery (big and small). In addition, they also have a small gift shop with lots of cute finds. My favorite things to get here are small cactus/succulents and annuals- I feel they are priced the best. They have a great selection of exotic plants as well. Their large cactus and large pottery sections are BEAUTIFUL but can be pricey.

Keep in mind this nursery doesn’t have air conditioning at all so it can get HOT in the summer, but it is still one of my favorite plant shops in Phoenix. I suggest going early during the summer.

I love following them on Instagram- they often times post about clearance plants (that you need to JUMP on-like within a few hours), new shipments, and fun events. They even had a free community Easter Egg Hunt- with prizes to redeem free plants inside. It’s definitely one of the most interactive, community-centered plant shops in Phoenix. The photos below show the egg I found and the plant I won because of it.

2. Jade & Clover

Jade & Clover is another one of the best plant shops in Phoenix, and a new one! They started as of late 2021. I stumbled past it while at Le Grande Orange in Arcadia (it’s behind Postinos). It’s known for its gift selections and terrarium bar. Let me tell you, the vibes of this place are on point. It’s such a happy and fun atmosphere. This is the perfect place to host a birthday party, work event, or anything else you can imagine. Besides the succulents for terrariums, there aren’t many other plants for sale.

3. Dig it gardens

This is a good one you guys. Dig It Gardens is located in Uptown Phoenix and is my favorite plant shops in Phoenix for reasonably priced cactus. This nursery is small but mighty. They have a combination of outdoor and indoor plants, and lots of pots! I was blown away by the price of their cacti, which I’ve bought many of now haha. I also love their unique selection of pots.

I also find this nursery to have very friendly staff members. Every I time visit, there are multiple people asking me if I need help choosing plants or carrying them to my car. In the photo below, the tall cactus and the aloe on the right with the white pot are all from Dig It Gardens (around $100 for all 3).

4. Berridge nursery

Berridge Nursery rivals the rest as one of the cutest plant shops in Phoenix. Its backdrop of Camelback Mountain makes this little nursery absolutely stunning. I know I’ve said before that certain nurseries seem to specialize in mainly houseplants, other in cacti, etc, but this one has EVERYTHING! I will be coming here when I’m ready to landscape my future house.

In the outdoor area, you’ll find plenty of annual flowers, landscape shrubs, trees, and outdoor cacti. It is laid out beautifully, and there are plenty of staff members to help you out. I absolutely love the beautiful entryway. too.

Outdoor Cacti For Sale

This nursery actually started in 1938 and has a long line of plant sales up until this point. Not only do they have a large selection of outdoor plants, they also have a greenhouse, antiques, and all of the plant supplies you could ever need- this is something other nurseries don’t have. They are also known for their selection of bare root roses.

This is definitely my current favorite nursery. I love their pricing on succulents- some are even half the price of what I can find at Home Depot. Their pots aren’t bad either for how high quality they are. I recently got one of their beautiful tall pots and a firestick plant and I’m obsessed. You need to come visit here.

5. Desert Botanical Garden

You mean the museum? Yes, actually. The Desert Botanical Gardens, or DBG for short, is one of the most popular tourist destinations as its visitors can be immersed in 55 acres of native desert plants, and it’s only a few minutes from the airport. It is a popular destination for professional pictures and even weddings. It is one of my favorite places. It does cost about $30 per person, but if you’re a local and have a library card, you can get a Culture Pass for free admission for two!

Most of you probably didn’t know that DBG sells plants too, and it’s one of my favorite plant shops in Phoenix. They have a gift shop to the right of the entrance (you do NOT have to pay to go here) that has a lot of gifts AND a plant shop in the back. This plant shop wins for some of the best views. I like coming here for UNIQUE plants. Plants are their specialty, so they take good care of them too. In addition, they hold a semi-annual plant sale in the parking lot that has high-quality plants for a good price (follow them on Instagram to keep up with these dates).

Hours: 8-8 daily (I’d visit the store before 5pm)

Price: $$$$

6. Whitfill Nursery

Whitfill Nursery is another one of my favorite plant shops in Phoenix, Arizona, but it’s more than just a “shop” haha, it’s HUGE. This is a family-owned and operated nursery for decades. They have 3 valley locations, 2 in Phoenix and one in Gilbert. I have been to all three of these! They definitely specialize in outdoor landscaping, with all of the large cactus, shrubs, vines, and trees you could dream of. They do also have greenhouses with plenty of indoor plant options, but outdoor is definitely their specialty. They also do landscaping consults and plant delivery. They like to decorate for holidays too which I think is fun.

7. The Plant Bodega

Formerly named The Sagebrush AZ, now Plant Bodega is a small little plant shop near Phoenix, in Downtown Mesa. It is known for its exotic plant varieties. It is a cute and quaint little shop. Downtown Mesa is growing in style and popularity and this shop fits in just perfectly.

8. Wright in the Garden

Wright in the Garden is another cute locally-owned plant shop in Phoenix, Arizona. It is actually owned by Frank Lloyd Wright’s great and great-great grandchild- pretty cool! They specialize in indoor plants. I personally found it a bit small and empty, and it’s a bit north for me, but I live in the East Valley. If you’re looking for a simple, cozy store to pick up some plants for your house, this is the place to be.

9. Pueblo

Pueblo is another one of the cutest plant shops in Phoenix that you need to add to your list. Pueblo is a local and LGBTQ-owned company, and I love that you can really tell they pour their heart & soul into this little shop. It is definitely one of the most asthetically pleasing nurseries around the valley- located in the Historic Grand Avenue District.

Here you will find mainly indoor plants, but they do have a mix of fun cacti and succulents too. I also love their selection of air plants, garden supplies, and other gift items.

Plant Nursery in Phoenix

Another thing I love about visiting here is the cute coffee stand outside. It’s the only plant shop in Phoenix I know of with a coffee shop. I personally am not a coffee person, but my husband enjoys it and I think it’s really charming. The name of the shop is Caffio Express and they are outside of pueblo from 9-2 daily. They also have a nice seating area to enjoy your coffee surrounded by plants- I loved this.

10. Moon Valley Nurseries

Moon Valley Nursery started as one small nursery in Phoenix and now has grown to multiple nationwide locations. You want to come here if you’re looking for large cacti, shrubs, and trees. I’m not at that stage in my life, so I don’t visit here often, but they are very friendly. They offer free design services along with delivery and clean-up after planting.
