a note about summer: most of us know summer can be HOT HOT HOT. and it can be hard to enjoy the outdoors when it’s so hot outside BUT ive figured out the best way to do so while being safe ⬇️ #ad

🚢: dolly steamboat cruise
•i suggest the twilight dinner cruise or astronomy cruise as they’re both later in the day when the sun goes over the canyon walls offering shade on the boat decks PLUS there’s an inside with air conditioning. loved this cruise!!!

🛶 float the salt river
•whether you kayak or paddle board or tube, whether you decide to take your own gear or rent, this is a great way to cool down. i still suggest early in the morning (before 10) or late afternoon.

🥾 hike butcher jones
•beautiful trail along saguaro lake. sunrise for this one in summer (like start hiking before sunrise). always wear sun protection & leave no trace!

🐟 rent a boat at canyon lake
•great daytime activity, the water can get up to 80 or so in the summer which still feels cool! bring a cooler of cold drinks and wear sun protection. most rental boats have shade too!

🌅 watch sunset at usery mountain regional park
•one of my absolute favs (i like wave cave trail OR levee trail OR blevins trail) to watch those epic desert sunsets.

i call myself lucky to be a resident of @visitmesa 💕

how to get permits for the wave ⬇️ remember t how to get permits for the wave ⬇️

remember the wave, or coyote buttes, operate on a daily lottery if you’re in the area or advanced lottery.

if you apply now before june 1, you’re applying for September dates!

if you apply before July 1, you’re applying for October!

if it’s a hike you want to do in fall, you gotta think ahead!

want to read more about hiking the wave? comment 🥾 for my blog post!
