10 Best Plant Shops & Nurseries in Phoenix, AZ (2026 Local Guide)

If you’re reading this, you’re probably a plant person — and Phoenix is honestly a great city to be one. Between the desert climate, the thriving local small business scene, and some seriously impressive nurseries, there’s no shortage of places to feed your plant obsession here.
I usually write about hiking and travel, but bringing the outdoors in is just as important to me. So I’ve done the legwork: visited all of these spots, spent way too much money on cacti I didn’t need, and put together this guide to the 12 best plant shops and nurseries in Phoenix (including a few in Tempe that are too good to leave off the list).
Whether you’re hunting for rare tropicals, affordable succulents, a unique gift, or just a fun outing — there’s something here for every plant lover. This isn’t a ranking, but my personal favorites are toward the top. And as always, hours change, so double-check before you go!
1. Maricopa Botanicals
Maricopa Botanicals is one of the newest plant shops in the Phoenix area, and honestly one of my favorites. Opened in mid-2024 by a sweet couple out of Cul-de-Sac Tempe, this little shop has so much personality. They handmake their own pottery (seriously impressive), and their signature Plant Bar lets you pick your plant, pick your pot, and put them together right in the store — such a fun experience. They actually just moved from their Tempe shop to Gilbert (in 2026!).
Oh, and there’s a shop dog. Enough said.
📍 Address: 538 S Gilbert Rd Unit 112, Gilbert, AZ 85296 🕐 Hours: Thu–Sun 10am–6pm (closed Mon–Wed) 📞 Phone: (480) 735-4461 💰 Price: $$ ⭐ Best For: Unique pottery, boutique plant selection, a fun outing
2. The Plant Stand of Arizona
If you want sheer size and selection, The Plant Stand of Arizona is your place. What started as a small family operation has grown into one of the largest nurseries in the Phoenix area — they’re now a nationwide supplier to major retailers like Fry’s. Walking through their greenhouses feels like a different world.
They’ve got everything: large trees and shrubs, houseplants, exotic plants, pottery big and small, and a little gift shop too. My personal sweet spot here is the small cacti, succulents, and annuals — the pricing on those is hard to beat. Fair warning: the large cactus and pottery sections are stunning but can get pricey.
One heads up for summer visitors — there’s no A/C, so go early in the morning if you’re heading here between May and September. Worth it either way.
Follow them on Instagram too. They post clearance plants (that go fast — we’re talking hours), new shipments, and community events. They’ve even done free Easter Egg Hunts with plant prizes. It’s one of the most fun, community-centered nurseries in the valley.
📍 Address: 6420 S 28th St, Phoenix, AZ 85042 🕐 Hours: Mon–Fri 7am–4:30pm, Sat 9am–5pm, Closed Sunday 💰 Price: $$ ⭐ Best For: Huge selection, exotic plants, affordable cacti & succulents.
3. The Plant Mill
The Plant Mill is one of the newer plant shops on this list, technically in Tempe but close enough to count. The location on Mill Avenue is a big part of the charm — I’d highly recommend making a day of it: grab lunch on Mill, wander the shops, and stop in here while you’re at it.
The owner and her team are genuinely lovely, so don’t be shy about chatting them up. Inside, the brick interior is gorgeous and the selection leans toward unique — you’ll find exotic plants alongside handmade goods from local creators. It’s the kind of shop that feels curated rather than overwhelming, which I appreciate.
📍 Address: 518 S Mill Ave, Tempe, AZ 85281 🕐 Hours: Mon closed, Tue–Wed 11am–6pm, Thu–Sat 10am–6pm, Sun 12–5pm 💰 Price: $$ ⭐ Best For: Unique exotic plants, local maker goods, a fun Mill Ave outin
4. Dig It Gardens
Located in Uptown Phoenix, Dig It Gardens is my go-to for reasonably priced cacti. I’ve bought more here than I’d like to admit.
The mix of indoor and outdoor plants is great, and their pot selection is genuinely impressive. But the cacti pricing is what keeps me coming back — I once picked up a tall cactus, an aloe, and a white pot for around $100 total, which is a steal compared to most places in the valley.
The staff is another highlight. Every time I’ve visited, someone has offered to help me pick plants or carry them to my car. That kind of service goes a long way.
📍 Address: 3015 N 16th St, Phoenix, AZ 85016 🕐 Hours: 8:30am–5pm daily 📞 Phone: (602) 812-7476 💰 Price: $$ ⭐ Best For: Affordable cacti, pot selection, friendly service
5. Jade & Clover
Jade & Clover is tucked behind Postinos in Arcadia — I stumbled across it one day and immediately fell in love with the vibe. The atmosphere here is genuinely unlike any other plant shop on this list. It’s bright, happy, and fun in a way that makes it perfect for a girls’ day, birthday party, or work event.
The main draw is the DIY terrarium bar, where you build your own succulent arrangement. Plant selection beyond the terrarium bar is limited, so if you’re coming to stock up on houseplants this isn’t your spot — but if you’re looking for a unique gift or a fun experience, this is it.
📍 Address: 3939 E Campbell Ave, Suite 130, Phoenix, AZ 85018 🕐 Hours: 10am–8pm daily 💰 Price: $$$ ⭐ Best For: DIY terrarium experience, gifts, a fun outing
6. Berridge Nursery
Berridge Nurseries might be my favorite on this entire list. The backdrop of Camelback Mountain alone makes it worth the visit, but the selection is what really sets it apart — this place has everything. Outdoor plants, indoor plants, cacti, succulents, bare root roses, antiques, pottery, and every supply you could possibly need. I’ll be coming here when I’m ready to landscape a house.
It’s also one of the oldest nurseries on this list, founded in 1938, and you can feel that history in how well-run the whole operation is. Their succulent pricing is exceptional — I’ve found them here for half of what Home Depot charges. The pots are high quality too. I recently picked up a beautiful tall pot and a firestick plant and I’m obsessed with both.
📍 Address: 4647 E Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85018 🕐 Hours: Mon–Sat 8am–5:30pm, Sun 9am–5pm 💰 Price: $$ ⭐ Best For: Everything — landscaping, succulents, supplies, pottery, roses
7. Pueblo Life
Pueblo is one of the most aesthetically pleasing plant shops in the valley, full stop. Located in the Historic Grand Avenue District, this LGBTQ-owned small business pours so much heart into every corner of the space — you can feel it the moment you walk in.
The focus is mainly indoor plants, with a nice mix of cacti, succulents, and air plants too. The gift selection and garden supplies are worth browsing as well. But honestly the experience of being here is half the point.
My favorite detail: there’s a coffee stand right outside called Caffio Express, open daily from 9am–2pm. It’s the only plant shop I know of in Phoenix with a coffee shop attached, and they have a lovely seating area surrounded by plants. My husband loves it. Even as a non-coffee person, I think it’s incredibly charming.
📍 Address: 1025 Grand Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85007 🕐 Hours: 9am–7pm daily 💰 Price: $$$ ⭐ Best For: Indoor plants, aesthetic experience, LGBTQ-owned, coffee outside
8. Desert Botanical Garden
Yes, really — the DBG has a plant shop, and it’s one of the most underrated on this list. Most people don’t know you don’t even have to pay the ~$30 admission to access it. The gift shop and plant shop are just to the right of the entrance and open to everyone.
The plant shop wins for unique selection. Since plants are literally their specialty, the quality and care is exceptional. I come here specifically when I’m looking for something I can’t find anywhere else. They also hold a semi-annual plant sale in the parking lot with high-quality plants at great prices — follow them on Instagram to stay on top of the dates.
And if you do want to explore the full 55 acres of native desert plants? Phoenix library cardholders can grab a free Culture Pass for two — absolutely worth it.
📍 Address: 1201 N Galvin Pkwy, Phoenix, AZ 85008 🕐 Hours: 8am–8pm daily (visit the plant shop before 5pm) 💰 Price: $$$$ ⭐ Best For: Unique & rare plants, semi-annual plant sales, locals with a library card
9. Whitfill Nursery
Whitfill is less of a plant shop and more of a full-on nursery experience. This family-owned operation has been running for decades and has three valley locations — two in Phoenix and one in Gilbert — and I’ve been to all three. It’s big in the best way.
Outdoor landscaping is their specialty. We’re talking large cacti, shrubs, vines, trees — if you’re planning a yard overhaul, this is your place. They also have greenhouses with solid indoor plant options, but outdoor is where they really shine. Bonus: they offer landscaping consultations and plant delivery, and they decorate for holidays which I always find charming.
📍 Address: 824 E Glendale Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85020 🕐 Hours: Mon–Fri 8am–5pm, Sat 8am–5:30pm, Sun 10am–4pm 💰 Price: $$ ⭐ Best For: Outdoor landscaping plants, large cacti, trees & shrubs
10. Wright in the Garden
Wright in the Garden is a sweet, cozy indoor plant shop on the north side of Phoenix. What makes it extra special — it’s owned by Frank Lloyd Wright’s great and great-great grandchildren. Pretty cool piece of history for a plant shop.
It’s on the smaller side and a bit of a drive if you’re coming from the East Valley, but if you’re in the area and looking for a simple, relaxed spot to pick up a houseplant, it delivers. The focus is entirely on indoor plants and the laid-back atmosphere makes it a nice low-key outing.
📍 Address: 10880 N 32nd St, Suite 27, Phoenix, AZ 85028 🕐 Hours: Tue–Fri 12–6pm, Sat–Sun 10am–4pm, Closed Monday 💰 Price: $$$ ⭐ Best For: Indoor plants, unique ownership history, north Phoenix locals
Phoenix Plant Shops at a Glance
Not sure which shop is right for you? Here’s a quick breakdown to help you narrow it down before you go. Whether you’re after affordable cacti, a unique gift, or a full landscaping haul — there’s something on this list for every kind of plant lover.
Tips for Plant Shopping in Phoenix
A few things worth knowing before you go:
Shop early in summer. Phoenix heat is no joke, and several of these nurseries are partially or fully outdoors. Early morning is the move from May through September — for your sake and the plants’.
Follow your favorites on Instagram. Shops like The Plant Stand post clearance deals and new shipments in real time. If you snooze you lose on those.
Check hours before you go. Several shops on this list have irregular hours or are closed on certain weekdays. Nothing worse than making the drive for nothing.
Don’t overlook the semi-annual sales. Desert Botanical Garden’s parking lot plant sales are a hidden gem — high quality plants at great prices. Worth planning around.
Bring cash. Not all of these shops are big-box operations. Some smaller boutique shops prefer it or offer a small discount for it.
Final Thoughts of the Best Plant Shops in Phoenix
Phoenix has a genuinely impressive plant scene — and honestly, any of these shops are worth an afternoon. My personal favorites change depending on what I’m after: Berridge for succulents and supplies, Dig It when I need a cactus fix, and Maricopa Botanicals or Pueblo when I want the full experience.
If you’re new to plant shopping in Phoenix, I’d start with The Plant Stand just to get a feel for the sheer variety available, then work your way through the list from there. You’ll find your people.
