most people hike echo canyon trail for the summit… most people hike echo canyon trail for the summit… but if you make it to marker 19, there’s a hidden little cave tucked into the mountain 👀⛰️

one of my favorite phoenix views without having to do the full camelback mountain climb (1.6 mi RT instead of 2.7- with a strong incline).

save this for your next arizona hike 🌵🥾

🔥: please note, the city of phoenix CLOSES this trail all day in extreme heat

unpopular opinion: canyon overlook has better view unpopular opinion: canyon overlook has better views than angels landing 👀

hear me out before you come for me in the comments 😅

canyon overlook trail 🏔️
• 1 mile round trip
• 163 ft elevation gain
• no permit needed
• no chains, no crowds, no chaos
• takes about 45 min
• panoramic views of zion canyon from above ✨

angels landing 🏜️
• 5.4 miles round trip
• 1,488 ft elevation gain
• permit required (and hard to get)
• chains section can be terrifying
• takes 4+ hours
• yes the views are insane BUT…

canyon overlook sits right above the canyon entrance and gives you sweeping views of the valley without the near-death experience 😂

it’s the move if you’re short on time, skipping the permit lottery, or just want to actually enjoy the view instead of white-knuckling a chain 🫶

both hikes are worth it if you can do them — but if i had to pick one? canyon overlook every time 🤷‍♀️

drop a 🙋‍♀️ if you’d rather do the easy hike and a ⛓️ if you’re team angels landing!
what it’s like to hike the narrows in zion 🥾🌲💧 🎟️ what it’s like to hike the narrows in zion 🥾🌲💧

🎟️: you’ll need to pay the park entry fee (by foot or car)

🥾: your choice whether you rent gear or not. you could choose to use your own gear or get boots/neoprene socks/ walking stick from a rental company like zion outfitters (right outside the park- walking distance to shuttle)

🚌: shuttle runs about 7am to 815pm, takes 40 minutes to get to trailhead from visitor center (you can e-bike too!)

💧: hike the paved riverside walk 1.1 miles to the water & then however far you want in the narrows. we did a mile in & back- that water portion took us about 2 hours!

☔️: the visitor center will always have conditions & will let you know if water levels or flow make it unsafe to hike!

did this 18 weeks pregnant 🤰🏼& my mom is 1 year out from a knee replacement!
